According to the BBC, Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has been fined a staggering €1.2 billion by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC) for mishandling data transfers between Europe and the United States. The fine, the largest ever imposed under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) privacy law, marks a significant setback for the social media giant.
